This is not a comprehensive set of tools that could be required for installations of the various types of Quik-Latch Products (as every custom installation can vary) but these links should be helpful in identifying tools you may need before getting started.
Installation of QL-25 Series Mini Quik-Latches requires the drilling of a 3/4" hole for the latch mounting body. These step drill bits can be useful for this purpose.
Drill bits are not included with any of the QL-25, QL-38, or QL-50 kits, so if you don't have a drill bit kit, now is a great time to pick up a set. Drill bits are needed for drilling pilot holes for the latch bodies, and for drilling holes at the ball pin mounting stud locations.
Placing painters tape over the drilling location can help assist in preventing paint chipping or cracking, helps reduce surface scratches and improves drill bit accuracy by giving the drill bit a slight grip to prevent bit walking.
For QL-25 Mini Latch installations, use of penetrating thread locker on threaded components can help prevent fasteners from backing off due to vibration. (Thread locker is included with QL-38 and QL-50 hood pin kits)
Automatic Center Punches are useful for precisely marking pilot hole locations.
Use of a quality electric drill will help with drilling holes for mounting pins and latch bodies.
Two separate hole saw sizes are needed for a QL-50 hood pin kit install if the hood is a double layered hood. A 1 5/8" hole saw is required for the top layer of the hood. Utilization of a quality hole saw ensures an even circular cut so that the threaded portion of the latch body can fit through the top layer of a double layered hood. If the hood is a single layered hood, then a 1 5/8" hole saw is all you need.
If you have a double layered hood, you'll need a 2 1/4" hole saw so that the latch retention ring can be successfully threaded onto the latch body.
QL-50 Hood Pin Kits Utilize a quantity of six 3/32" set screws that keep the latch retention rings from backing off. You'll need a 3/32" Allen Wrench to fasten them into place.
The QL-38 Series Hood Pin kits require a 1 1/4" hole saw in order to cut out a hole that accepts the threaded portion of the latch body.
For double layered hoods, a 2 1/2" hole saw will be required cut a hole in the lower layer of the hood so that the latch retention ring can be successfully threaded onto the latch body.
